Question 1:  I would like to enter Viet Nam from china by train. Can I do this? And should I apply for a visa from the Embassy in Pretoria?

Answer: We would like to inform that at present we can only provide visa on arrival (Visa to be picked up at the arrival airport in Vietnam and applicable for those who travel by air only).In your case, you are suggested to come directly to Vietnamese Embassy/ Consulate where you are living or staying to obtain your Vietnam visa there. You need to take your passport, a passport-sized photo, and cash in person to the Consulate, where you will be interviewed about the purpose of your visit.

You must also pay the stamping fee and wait in a few days to get the visa. Please note that the application procedures and fees may vary among countries and embassies/consulates.

Question 2: I need to apply to be able to work temporarily or perhaps longer?

Answer 2: If you work in Viet Nam longer, Please be kindly informed that you are not required any extra legal documents for working contract less than 3 months. If your contract longer than 3 months, you are kindly advised to ask your employer to apply for work permit for you.

Question 3: I am Philippine and want to travel to Viet Nam on vacation with my boyfriend how do i get a visa?

Answer 3: You are Philippines citizen then you do not need a Vietnam visa if you enter Vietnam within 21 days.

In case you enter Vietnam more than that time, you must apply for a visa.

Jf you travel by air so that you can get stamped visa at Vietnam airport. Should you travel by other transports, you are suggested to apply for visa at Vietnam Embassy/ Consulate in any places which are convenient for you.

Question 4: Can one take visa on arrival at the Hanoi airport directly without getting an approval letter through one of the agent websites?

Answer 4: Please inform you that normally for visa on arrival, you cannot get on your flight to enter Vietnam without a Vietnam visa approval letter.

In case you are able to get on your flight without this document, you should meet some troubles at Vietnam airport. You may be asked to get out of the country in the next flight or you may have to pay quite some of money for breaking the law.

Therefore, it is wise not to take this risk and you had better wait until you can get a visa approval letter in hand to get on board.

 Question 5: If I apply on line, when does the visa actually begin? Does it start from the date of the letter of acknowledgement? Or does it start when I enter Vietnam? My flight arrives in Vietnam on the 21st September. When should I apply for my visa to get 30 days in Vietnam?

Answer 5: Please be kindly informed that your visa is valid from your date of arrival printed on your visa approval letter. I.E, it starts according to your submitted date of arrival on your application.
